About Me

Hi, I'm Whitney

I kept saving my bucket list trips for “one day”, waiting to reach my career, financial, relationship and family goals. But then, my divorce left me devastated and further from those goals than ever before.

Suddenly a single mom of 2 young kids, I felt like I’d wasted years setting aside my own happiness. Facing the reality that our future isn’t guaranteed and realizing if we don’t prioritize the things most important to us, they may forever stay out of reach. You only live once, as cliché as it is, it’s true. And with that new mindset, YoloTravelSolo was born!

There are so many places I want to see, things I want to do and experiences and memories I want to make. So now, I am taking my bucket list trips with my kids, my family, friends and solo.

And I hope you will too!

Yolo Travel Solo: Join single mom traveler Whitney Jarvis on her journey to seize life's adventures with her kids, family, and friends. Don't wait for 'one day'—explore now!
Fun Facts about me
  • I was born and raised in Southern California 45 minutes north of Los Angeles in the suburb called Conejo Valley but now live in Texas, just north of Houston in The Woodlands.

  • An athlete growing up, I spent my recess kicking the boy’s butt in sports. I played on all the all stars teams, travel and club teams which took me all over the state and country (and even out of it, Canada). Traveling with my teams alone without my parents were my earliest experiences traveling “solo”

  • What sports do you think I played? everyone guesses basketball and I did play for a couple years but my main three were soccer, softball and volleyball. I signed to Syracuse University to play softball but my career came to an early end after I stress fractured my femur freshmen year.

  • Outside of sports, my parents were big into taking me and my younger brother on yearly trips. Most of our family vacations were educational trips to historical sites such as Gettysburg, Washington DC, National Parks. The highlight was our two just for fun trips to Maui with a couple night at the amazing Grand Wailea Resort.

  • My goal is to visit all the states in the US and I only have 15 states left, most of which are between Michigan and Mississippi. So I’m thinking roadtrip!
  • My first solo international trip was that first summer divorced (2020) when my kids were away with their dad for two weeks. I spent 10 incredible days at the top place on my bucket list, Santorini. Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants anyone?

  • That trip was so healing and transformational for me and officially solidified my obsession with traveling solo.

  • Solo travel is the best way I’ve found to re-find yourself after a divorce, breakup or major life change. It allows you to fully focus on and tap back into your own needs, desires and feelings.

  • I also love instilling the love of travel and values travel offers in my kids through family trips just the three of us or with extended family too.

  • Top items currently on my bucket list are: Italy, Switzerland, Scotland/Ireland,  Jordan/Egypt/Turkey, and a roadtrip with the kids through the Blue Ridge Mountains and Coastal Carolina

  • The places I will always go back to: Coastal Maine, Maui, Southern California.
